"Trapped in a racial construct"
"Trapped in a racial construct" is an article by a black writer on the editorial page of the Toronto Star on
Thursday, November 24th, 2005. I sent off the following letter to the editor in
response but expect the odds of seeing it printed are about 34,269:1 against.
"In my opinion, there is some truth to the notion that the black community
is the victim of the racist beliefs of the dominant white community.
But, wars have been fought and people have died defending the
proposition that all men are born equal.
It seems to me that the black
community would benefit from knowing that the average Canadian regardless of
skin color is a world class paragon of ignorance, stupidity and illiteracy. He
actually believes that people who learn to read are born mentally gifted so
there is no need for honest or objective literacy standards in our schools.
It seems to me that the black community would benefit from the
resolution of this insanity. For then it would surely be apparent that they are
as capable of literacy as any other member of the human race."
